Marjean Halverson

December 6, 2014 By

Vice Principal, 5th-6th Bible Teacher, 5-8th Math Teacher

Marjean graduated from Winona State University with a BS degree in Elementary Education and Learning Disabilities.  She also received  a MS in Special Education with an emphasis in Learning Disabilities from Bethel University.  Marjean is professional certified by the ACSI (Association for Christian Schools International) for Elementary Education and Learning Disabilities, and NILD (National Institute for Learning Development) as an Educational Therapist for Learning Disabilities. Marjean began teaching 1st grade at NCS in 1981.  In 1985 she left NCS to teach Child Evangelism at Christ for the Nations in Dallas, TX for 4 ½ years.  When she returned to NCS in 1990 she taught 1st grade and the NILD Discovery Program.  Since then she has taught nearly every grade various subjects.  In addition to teaching, Marjean began her role as a school administrator in 2005, and became the Assistant Principal at Northside in 2013. Marjean has also taught for NILD, training other teachers from all over the world to become Educational Therapists, making a way for struggling learners to stay in Christian Schools.  Marjean offers on-going teacher in-service training for the teachers at Northside. Marjean is passionate about teaching students to love Christ and to serve Him in His plan for their lives.  She desires that students learn to think critically and be creative, flexible problem solvers.  Students in her class are encouraged to ask high-level questions and to develop goal planning as they approach a task. Marjean has had the opportunity to organize and travel with Northside's middle and high school students as they took spring missions trips to Monterrey, Mexico, Costa Rica, and the east coast of our great country. Marjean lives with one of her three sisters.  She loves to study the Bible, travel, cook, paint, cross-stitch, make beaded bracelets and play games with her family (nieces/nephews and great-nieces/nephews) and friends.  In summer of 2015 they became great-great aunts.
