What a year we are having! With a strong academic schedule, events such as Beat the Bunker, Service Blast, science expo, Christmas program, SOAR parties, speech meet, and five snow days, our Northside family has been very busy!
This time of the year presents Northside with the same challenges of getting through our curriculum, practicing for the upper class’s drama, k-6 reading program, beginning science fair preparations, looking for donations for the auction, and potential families begin touring on a weekly basis.
And believe it or not, it is already time to think about re-enrolling your children for the 2019-2020 school year.
One of the difficulties the school encounters is speculating whether or not our current families will be enrolling for the coming school year or not. Normally, we do not have a solid idea of how many students will be in our classes until mid to late August. With this trend in re-enrolling so late in the summer there are several organizational and financial problems that arise for us as a school:
We have to go on “faith” to keep our current staff, hoping that numbers will be sufficient to keep our teachers
We have to wait on ordering materials and other purchases that needed for students to have on the first day of school
Waiting on budgeting for teacher salaries and other important line items
Office efficiency is delayed as each family enrolled demands individual attention from administration
The stress of hiring teachers late when candidates become less available
We do realize that in the past several years, Northside has not had waiting lists for its classes, with the exception of the preschool classes. But, this coming year, we are expecting full classrooms in preschool and grades k-6. We may have to consider splitting the first and second grade, as well. Therefore, if you have decided to return to Northside, you may need to reserve your spot(s).
As your TADS reminder is released this week you will notice a new option to re-enroll. You can put half (75.00) of your yearly enrollment fee of 150.00 down now and through May 1, and pay the last half (75.00) of this fee no later than July 1. Your material fee of 335.00 would be due on July 1st as well. If you could pay the 150.00 plus the material fee of 335.00 before May 1, this is still a welcome option of course.
We value each and everyone of you as part of our Northside family. We look forward to serving you again in the next school year. Please do not hesitate to call if you have any questions regarding this information.
